"In Early 2018, I experienced profound healing of my deep-seated emotional wounds after just a couple of sessions with (author of the best-selling A Guide to the Present Moment) although I had no known history of severe trauma or PTSD-I was not even aware that I had any 'emotional wounds!'
Subsequently, I began to notice that the vast majority of my patients, friends and family also had a few if not dozens of emotional wounds or knots like I did...
"As children we are extremely emotionally sensitive. Seemingly minor hurt feelings from parents, early relationship failures or any situations experienced as 'traumatic' to us may cause emotions to get stuck or knot-up in our bodies or emotional mind. These Major or Minor wounds are (often) at the root of our future symptoms of anxiety and depression throughout our lives and, unfortunately, tend to lead us to repeat a traumatic dynamic in our own intimate relationships-including with our own children... "
"Fortunately, it is possible to heal these emotional wounds quite quickly and effectively compared to traditional therapeutic and medicinal modalities..."
"While I absolutely remain strictly adherent to the Psychiatric Bio-Psycho- Social model of evaluation and treatment guidelines practiced in my training at the University of Hawaii as well as those of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, I am very excited and happy to also offer this new approach-what I am referring to as,Emotional Somatic Release Therapy (ESRT)."
Emotional Somatic Release Therapy (ESRT) is safe and similar to "Evidenced Based Therapies" such as EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), etc., however, ESRT achieves results much more quickly as it is focused directly on freeing the "feelings" in the body carefully with a highly experienced and trained therapist. ESRT may seem like hypnosis, but patients are fully awake and not hypnotized during the session(s) although their eyes are often closed.
ESRT is not limited to the treatment of "proper" Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Since nearly all of us have at least some emotional "knots" or wounds typically dating back to childhood, everyone with even mild anxiety, moodiness, irritability or other emotional problems benefit mightily.
In as little as one session (depending on each individual and the severity of their issues), Emotional Somatic Release Therapy (ESRT) almost invariably secures lasting results-examples from patients include:
One might ask, "Although ESRT is very similar to other Evidence Based Therapies, why not wait until ESRT undergoes years of research to be established as a traditional Evidence Based Therapy?'"
The answer may be to ask oneself if patients were analogously being cured of HIV/AIDS by safely talking with a therapist, would it not be considered quite unethical to withhold this treatment from the masses?
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 123 people die of suicide EVERY DAY on average just in the USA.
It is an extremely serious and deadly question as to how quickly we mobilize effective treatments for mental health illnesses out there.
Dr. Wills is working happily and tirelessly-continuing his research with ESRT and collaborating with and advocating for ESRT to gain acceptance amongst mental health care providers as a possible novel basic standard of care for anyone dealing with emotional problems including anxiety.
